In an interview, singer-host Karylle has this backstory regarding the issue that transpired in It’s Showtime involving Janella Salvador.
Kapamilya actress-singer Janella Salvador declined the “sampol” request from Kim Chiu which sparked the issue online. It created a loud buzz online and it was Janella’s response that became an issue.
She was not feeling well as apart from promoting her new movie with a Thai actor, she is also preparing for her upcoming 10th-anniversary concert. Janella reacted to the bashing after declining and stressed that she already apologized for offending someone but she did not apologize for setting her boundaries.
Janella also stressed in her post that she is assertive and never disrespectful and that she’s aware if people would believe otherwise. It’s on them. Giving us a background on what transpired, Karylle spoke about the issue and revealed that there’s actually already a banter that happened way before everything started.
“Prior to that interview with Janella and Win, there was a moment when Janella and Win… Kim Chiu and Anne Curtis did ‘Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw,’ so she [Janella] meant was, ‘You guys sing so well [like the] voice ni Sheryn and it was so high, going higher and higher…’ That’s why she [Janella] said, ‘Kayo na lang,’ kasi that’s what she meant. That was her reference naman.”
This was the explanation of Karylle. This is accordingly contrary to the assumptions of the people online. As for the shade from Vice Ganda, the comedian accordingly doesn’t know the backstory. She furthered that perhaps the people reacted differently as it was one of the rare times when someone who was asked to do a “sampol” declined.
