PRISCILLA MEIRELLES – Beauty queen Priscilla Meirelles shuts down any chance of joining Miss Universe.

Priscilla Meirelles has firmly stated that she has no plans to join Miss Universe, despite her illustrious career in pageantry. She wants to give other beauty queens the opportunity to shine on the global stage.

During an interview on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda on February 28, Meirelles addressed the possibility of competing in Miss Universe. Abunda’s question came in light of the pageant’s recent rule change, allowing married women and mothers to compete since its 72nd edition in 2023.

“I would think about joining Miss Universe, but I’m not so sure if I would pursue it,” she said. “If I ever get to pursue it, maybe it’s just for the experience. Because I think it’s kind of unfair to join. I had my time. I’ve been there, I’ve done that.”

Meirelles boasts an impressive pageant resume, having won nine crowns, including three international titles: Miss Globe International 2003, Miss Earth 2004, and Noble Queen of the Universe 2024.

“I joined nine pageants. I have nine crowns, three international… Unfortunately, it’s not Miss Universe. I think I had my share of the cake, many slices of the cake, so I think it’s time for others,” she expressed.

Rather than competing, Meirelles prefers to support aspiring beauty queens, using her experience to mentor and guide them. “I would love to contribute in other ways. Maybe supporting others to have their chance also.”

At this stage in her life, Meirelles is more focused on personal growth and exploring the Philippines. “I’m looking forward to traveling, getting to know the Philippines because I love this country,” she shared. “I am looking forward to going back to acting. I am looking forward to supporting my daughter in her endeavors. I am looking forward to growing older happy, in peace, and with the knowledge that God has my back all the time.”

Additionally, Meirelles confirmed that she remains “legally married” to actor John Estrada following their widely publicized marital issues. However, she chose not to disclose whether they are still living together.

With her wealth of experience in pageantry and entertainment, Meirelles is set on embracing new opportunities while leaving the Miss Universe stage for the next generation of beauty queens.
