Jackie Chan, Ralph Macchio join forces in ‘Karate Kid: Legends’
Two branches. One tree. The Karate Kid universe is expanding as the original Karate Kid Ralph Macchio joins forces with kung fu legend Jackie Chan to train a new prodigy, Ben Wang, in ‘Karate Kid: Legends’, coming soon in Philippine cinemas.
In Karate Kid: Legends, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing after a family tragedy and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past and fit in with his new classmates but trouble seems to find him everywhere.
When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.
The trailer also hints at a connection between Mr. Han and Mr. Miyagi, LaRusso’s sensei.
Karate Kid: Legends is directed by Jonathan Entwistle, and written by Rob Lieber. The film is produced by Karen Rosenfelt, with executive producers Jenny Hinky and Ralph Macchio
