Miss Universe 2014 Top 10 semifinalist MJ Lastimosa drew laughter online after giving her opinion on memorized answers during the grand coronation of Binibining Pilipinas 2024 on Sunday.

The national pageant crowned Myrna Esguerra of Abra as Bb. Pilipinas International and Jasmin Bungay of Pampanga as Bb. Pilipinas Globe at its 60th edition held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on July 7.

Meanwhile, Christal Jean Dela Cruz of Zambales was named first runner-up, while Trisha Martinez of Pila, Laguna was named second runner-up.

The pageant was the grandest occasion in its history so far as it assembled more than 100 former winners on stage. These include Miss Universe winners Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, and Pia Wurtzbach on the judging panel and Catriona Gray as one of the hosts.

Apart from MJ, the all-female hosting team also included Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves, Miss World Second Princess 1993 Ruffa Gutierrez and Miss International 2016 Kylie Versoza.

During the event, Kylie asked MJ what her thoughts were about “memorized answers,” pertaining to the Question and Answer portion of pageants.

“Oh, I’m being on the spot,” MJ said and then laughed.

“Thank you for that wonderful question. But I believe that as long as ang sagot ay hindi ‘Charot, mare,’ okay lang ‘yan,” she added while laughing.

The moment caught some pageant viewers’ attention, with others like “Banlaw” X spaces host-speaker @pauloMDtweets posting a clip of it online.

 

The clip has earned viral status as it amused Filipinos, gaining 316,900 views and 4,000 likes so far.

“Hahahahahahaha. Every time talaga na may ganitong event, aabangan mo mga kuda ni MJ or mga tweets niya. Hahahaha,” another X user commented.

“My Q&A winner for tonight,” wrote a different Pinoy with a laughing emoji.

“New motto during orals,” an X user reacted in response to MJ’s quip.

“‘As long as ang sagot ay hindi charot,’ my new motto,” commented another Pinoy with a laughing emoji.

MJ later answered Kylie seriously after her quip.

“But kidding aside, you know, question and answer [portions], they’re very nerve-wracking. So just like final exams or big presentations, I think there’s nothing wrong coming prepared,” she said.

“As long as mag-study ka nang maayos, magbaon ka, ‘di ba? [If] you don’t sound rehearsed, maitatawid mo ‘yan, queen. Go lang! And I thank you,” MJ added.

MJ is known for her unserious comments and funny remarks especially on social media, where she amuses online users with her reactions to beauty pageant events.
