MANILA — Comedy superstar Vice Ganda became a news reporter of sorts on Monday as he took “It’s Showtime” viewers to the noontime program’s backstage while pursuing an evasive subject, his co-host and real-life “sisterette” Anne Curtis.

The “Momalland” co-stars were having banter during the Mr. Q&A segment when Curtis, her co-hosts noticed, needed flossing. “Bakla, may pamintang buo!” Vice Ganda said.

Initially, Curtis laughed off the comment and tried to carry on with her spiels and interviewing the contestants — until Jhong Hilario teased she couldn’t fully enunciate certain words.

At that point, Curtis checked and subsequently confirmed she did need a break from the camera to floss.

Vice Ganda, however, wouldn’t let his close friend off without a hook. When Curtis excused herself and went backstage, Vice Ganda followed her and invited the cameras to telecast her hygiene moment.

The comedian called it a first in Philippine television history: “Masasaksihan natin ang isang superstar na magtatanggal ng tinga!”

Vice Ganda’s “live report” was even complemented with the iconic “TV Patrol” music.

The hosts, including Hilario and Vhong Navarro, eventually did give Curtis private time to clean her teeth, before she returned to the stage with a camera-ready smile.

Curtis and Vice Ganda’s banter, whether physical or through a sparring of jokes, has become a source of amusement for “It’s Showtime” viewers over the last decade.

Their chemistry is expected to be replicated on the big screen on Christmas Day, as they finally team up for the first time in a movie, via th
