Heart Evangelista has revealed the reason why her dad, Rey Ongpauco, was not present at her renewal of vows with Chiz Escudero.
On Instagram, the Kapuso fashion icon shared a short recap of her dreamy wedding in Balesin with the senator, highlighting some precious moments Heart spent with her mom during the event.
In the comment section, Heart engaged with a netizen who asked “bakit wala po si daddy?”
“Sorry to ask po,” the netizen said as a preamble, along with her words of congratulations.
“He is recovering,” Heart wrote with a smiley emoticon.
She didn’t detail the current health condition of her father, but it could be recalled that in 2019, her Rey underwent radiation therapy.
Heart’s mom, Cecile Ongpauco, walked her down the aisle during the renewal of vows.
Both her parents were absent when Heart and Chiz tied the knot in 2015, which Rey admitted to regretting in 2021.
“Sayang. Naging bati na sana kami no’n,” he said.
[I regret it. We could’ve patched things up before.]
During Heart and Chiz’s first wedding, Rey sent a letter, saying he’d “come knocking at [her] door” once he sees that Chiz deserves her.
