Ogie, Kim, MC, Lassy remind viewers to keep calm with ‘Magpasikat’ performance

MANILA — “Kapag pagod ka na tigil, hinga, kalma.

This was the message the team of Ogie Alcasid, Kim Chiu, MC and Lassy wanted to highlight on Tuesday as they wowed the audience with their “Magpasikat” performance on “It’s Showtime,” which is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

The “Fourtastic Combo” showcased a mix of heart-moving performances telling viewers to take time to breathe and rest because there will always be fears and struggles.

Alcasid performed an original composition while playing the piano on a revolving platform, while MC and Lassy also performed stunts.

One of the highlights of the performance was Chiu’s death-defying trapeze act as Morissette sang “Isa Pang Araw.”

“Naisip namin kasi lagi nating sinasabi sa ating sarili nakakapagod. Tapos imbes na tayo ay magpahinga, tumigil at kumalma, ang ginagawa natin ay lalo tayong nagpapagod. Kasi akala natin ang pagiging pagod natin maiibsan ang pait ng buhay, ang sakit ng buhay. Mali. Sabi nga sa Bibliya, sa Salmo 46:10: ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ Hindi po ito suhestiyon ni Lord; sinasabi Niya sa atin, inuutos Niya sa atin huwag ka na magpaka-busy, Ako na ang bahala,” Alcasid said.

“Ang konsepto nito ay ang ang busy-busy na nang paligid natin. Ang daming karera ng buhay. May social media na nako-compare natin ang sarili natin sa iba. Ang akala natin wala tayong silbi sa mundo kasi ito lang tayo. Pero sandali lang tigil muna tayo. Lahat gusto nating gawin, gagawin ko ‘yan para maging successful pero hindi natin alam ‘yung katawan natin sumusuko na. May ibang tao trabaho nang trabaho pero bukas wala na pala siya. Trabaho tayo nang trabaho nakakalimutan natin ‘yung mga  mahal natin sa buhay. Kasi we always want more for our life, nakakalimutan natin ang salitang tigil, pahinga, kalma. ‘Yung oras mo darating para sa iyo.  Hindi lahat ng success ng buhay ay sabay-sabay,” Chiu added.

The team of Vice Ganda, Karylle and Ryan Bang kicked off the week-long celebration with their performance about hope on Monday.

The judges for this year’s Magpasikat are filmmaker Rory Quintos, Kapamilya actor Donny Pangilinan, GMA-7 actress Gabbi Garcia, actress Alice Dixson, and former ABS-CBN president Freddie Garcia.

Viewers and netizens also expressed their love and support as the hashtag #Magpasikat2024OgieKimMCLassy trended on microblogging site X.

Vhong Navarro, Amy Perez, Daren Espanto and Ion Perez are set to perform on Wednesday.

Last year, the team of Jhong Hilario with Amy Perez and Chiu won Magpasikat.
