MTRCB denies 'It's Showtime's' motion for reconsideration, affirms suspension ruling | GMA News Online

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has denied the motion for reconsideration filed by “It’s Showtime” after its decision to suspend the noontime show for 12 airing days.

In the “Today’s Talk” segment of Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the King of Talk said that MTRCB announced its ruling in a press conference on Thursday.

“Said MRs sought relief from the Board’s ruling dated August 17, 2023, regarding the July 25, 2023 episode of the live noontime television program ‘It’s Showtime!’ Specifically, during the show’s ‘Isip Bata’ segment, in which hosts Ryan Bang, Vice Ganda and Ion Perez allegedly acted indecently or inappropriately in the presence of children,” MTRCB wrote in a resolution.

“In view of which, the Board’s Decision dated 17 August 2023 is affirmed,” it said.

However, Tito Boy said that the suspension is not yet final and executory as ABS-CBN and GMA Network can still file an appeal before the Office of the President within 15 days.

If the President Bongbong Marcos’ office denies the appeal, the networks may raise the motion to the Court of Appeals and to the Supreme Court.

“It’s Showtime” will continue to air while the appeal is still ongoing.

The decision came a day after MTRCB announced that it would release its decision on the noontime show’s appeal this week.

Earlier this month, MTRCB announced its suspension after several viewers lodged multiple complaints about its July 25 episode, where hosts allegedly acted in an indecent manner in the “Isip Bata” segment.

Following this, ABS-CBN said they would file a motion for reconsideration with the MTRCB.

“It’s Showtime” debuted on GMA Network’s GTV on July 1.
