SAN Miguel import Jordan Adams strained his hamstring late in their 122-112 loss to Rain or Shine Thursday night in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Adams was taken out with five minutes left in the fourth quarter and never came back in the defeat that snapped the Beermen’s four-game winning streak for a 6-3 record.

The former UCLA standout finished with 24 points, five rebounds, two assists, and five steals in 33 minutes of play.

His frontcourt partner June Mar Fajardo said the import hurt his hamstring.

“Sana, hindi serious (yung condition niya). Sabi niya, masakit daw, e,” said the eight-time MVP about Adams’ condition.

The high-scoring reinforcement is set for a checkup with the doctor on Friday.

“Nag-usap yung mga coaches kanina, pero hindi ko alam (kung ano napag-usapan). Siguro bukas, ia-assess yun,” added Fajardo.

The Beermen will end their group stage campaign on Saturday against Blackwater and Fajardo said it’s uncertain if Adams would be able to play.

“Baka hindi siya makalaro next game kasi hindi naman maghi-heal yung hamstring in 24 hours,” said Fajardo, who nonetheless hopes for the best for Adams.

Leash the ‘Kraken’

The 6-foot-10 San Miguel star was held to 14 points and 12 rebounds, but inexplicably didn’t troop to the foul line all game long.

Asked about not shooting a single free throw, Fajardo was also surprised.

“Ganun talaga. Ok lang yun. Walang tawag, e,” said the San Miguel big man.
