It was epic! Vice Ganda mentioned a different “Deniece”.

In the recent episode of It’s Showtime, Denise Laurel Kalokalike graced the show but Vice Ganda mentioned the wrong one.

Kalokalike is the returning segment in It’s Showtime and in the recent episode, one of the Kalokalikes was actress Denise Laurel. At the time, the real one was sitting as judge and the actress was amused and entertained at the same time because of her uncanny resemblance with the contestant.

In this same episode, there was a moment that drew gasps and laughter from everyone after host Vice Ganda mentioned Deniece Cornejo with Vhong Navarro also there. Vice asked the impersonator named Kyla Rose Mazaredo, “How well do you know Deniece Cornejo?”

Many were surprised and it earned audible reactions from the studio and his co-hosts.

The real Denise Laurel approached Navarro and invited him for a hug. The superstar comedian then quipped, “Naglamigan!”

The inside joke is in reference to the tumultuous legal battle of Navarro with Cornejo over what happened in a condo many years ago. Last year, in March 2023, Navarro was acquitted by the Supreme Court in the cases filed by Cornejo.

Accordingly, Cornejo’s accounts were “manifestly inconsistent and highly deficient, doubtful, and unclear.”

Based on the recent development of the case, Cornejo and her co-accused Cedric Lee were found guilty of serious illegal detention along with Ferdinand Guerrero and Simeon Raz.

This decision came after 10 years. To recall, the violent incident that led to the hospitalization of Navarro, badly beaten, happened at Cornejo’s condominium unit in January 2014.

It was a lengthy legal battle. For Navarro, it was a journey that was hard to explain but he is grateful for his family, friends, and fans who have become his support system all through those years. He is most thankful to his wife Tanya Bautista, who never left him.
