Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda is set to brighten the holiday season once again with the highly anticipated Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 entry, And The Breadwinner Is….

Directed by the celebrated Jun Robles Lana, the film promises a delightful ensemble cast featuring Eugene Domingo, Joel Torre, Gladys Reyes, and Jhong Hilario.

However, while the project has captured the excitement of fans eager for a family-friendly Christmas treat, its promotional period has unexpectedly faced a controversy involving two of its cast members—Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings.

MARIS AND ANTHONY UNDER FIRE

The loveteam of Maris and Anthony, fondly called “MaThon” by fans, found themselves under intense scrutiny after Jamela Villanueva, Anthony’s ex-girlfriend of seven years, made explosive allegations on the night of December 3, 2024.

Jam took to Instagram, posting screenshots that allegedly expose private and intimate conversations between Anthony and Maris.

These messages, purportedly exchanged during the latter months of Jam and Anthony’s relationship, left fans shocked and eager for clarity.

The controversy gained traction as Jam detailed her side of the story, explaining that she endured months of suspicion before ultimately ending their relationship in October, leaving the public to speculate on the true dynamics between the two stars.

Vice Ganda’s subtle response

On the December 4 episode of It’s Showtime, Vice Ganda briefly addressed the trending headlines during her opening spiel.

After expressing gratitude to her co-hosts for their support of her upcoming film, Vice urged viewers to focus their time and energy on the holiday season instead of gossip.

“Magplano na kayo para sa Pasko, hindi yung basa kayo nang basa ng mga ganap sa Twitter,” Vice quipped, drawing laughter from the hosts and audience.

She continued with a cheeky reminder: “Magplano kayo sa Pasko, hindi yung hindi kayo tumatayo, laging abang na abang, mga puyat na puyat. Kilos-kilos tayo o.”

Amid the banter, co-host Kim Chiu playfully asked, “Ano ba meron sa Twitter?”

While Vice didn’t directly address the MaThon controversy, her remarks seemed to resonate with the current frenzy on social media.

Vice also briefly alluded to international news, referencing South Korea’s declaration of martial law on the same day as Jam’s exposé.

“Hindi siyempre inabangan natin yung mga nangyayari sa, dahil siyempre ang anak ko ay si Ryan Bang,” she explained.

While the comment initially seemed unrelated, it subtly steered the discussion away from the ongoing drama.
