They are the current Kapamilya love-team to beat if their hit series is to be based on. Kim Chui and Paulo Avelino, better known as KimPau, starred in the Prime Video-ABS-CBN global hit Linlang and the Filipino remake of the Korean drama What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim.
Linlang ended, while What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim is now airing on domestic free TV, so Kim and Paulo also attended thanksgiving events left and right.
One of these was the Kapamilya Kalayaan Karavan (KKK) in Birmingham, UK on June 30. The Dubai leg was preceded a few weeks earlier in the UK. ABS-CBN Europe Middle East Africa News Bureau Chief Rose Eclarinal interviewed KimPau during his visit to the UK to thank the countrymen and family who enjoyed and supported their projects.
“This is our first time (in Birmingham). It’s so far away, it’s like a province. I was surprised because it was like at the airport, someone would greet us with a banner, our faces would be there, saying, ‘we traveled 5 hours to come here, we just got here this morning.’ That’s the feeling that greeted us, that they really prepared so much for our arrival, is really a big thing for us. We touched their lives so they’re supporting us. So we’re very thankful,” Kim said happily.

Paulo also expressed his gratitude to his family.
“I’m very grateful. We’ve done two shows back-to-back and they are totally two different genres of shows. I think the support comes with the relatability and the feeling that comes (from what) the other show gives. It’s always nice to see that in some way, we can give happiness and make many of our countrymen and family happy all over the world, especially here in Birmingham,” Paulo said.The love team KimPau is hot, especially on social media. Many fans believe that the two have a good relationship not only on television but also in real life. However, there is no confirmation from the two.
Although there were no thrilling moments during the interview with KimPau, there was one moment that fans could not miss. This was when Kim was asked how Kim would describe her ideal on-screen partner.
Although she did not directly say that the actor is like Paulo, pay attention to the video that before Kim answered, she could not avoid turning to Pau.
“Ideal? (turning to Paulo) Of course, first, he must be good, so that it is not difficult to work with or be in a scene with or not difficult to act. Someone who has presence of mind and likes what he is doing,” said Kim.
At the end of the KimPau projects, Paulo admitted that he still wants to play many other characters as an actor that he has not done yet.

As for his dream project, Paulo said his dream is a grand Filipino sci-fi movie. But he admits to the possible limitations of such a project. “It’s hard to produce a sci-fi movie. It requires a lot of budget. And it’s just so many stuff. But someday, I’d like to do a sci-fi movie that is produced and made in the Philippines.
When Kim was asked what her staying power is in showbiz, Chinita Princess said a big part of it was her entering Kuya’s house for the Pinoy Big Brother Teen edition in 2006 until the Big Winner’s Day. “I think I benefited from PBB. I grew up with them, the audience. And I’m not too keen on sharing what’s going on in my life. And, I grew up in front of their eyes. To this day, people tell me ‘hey, I voted for you before’. So it’s like their vote before, they’ve grown now so I give back to them, by giving them beautiful projects and I also update them in my day-to-day life,” Kim replied.
In closing, KimPau once again thanked his family for their continued support in their two series and even in their “thank you tours” like the one in Birmingham.
“Filipinos are really different. They are very strategic and hardworking and you can see their perseverance not only for themselves but for their families. Your support is heartwarming and it’s nice to see a solid community outside the Philippines. Congrats to all of you and every day, just work hard,” Paulo’s message said.
